This landmark event, THE Campus Live ANZ 鈥楲ocal roots to global reach: Shaping ANZ universities鈥 future鈥, hosted by Te Whare W膩nanga o Waitaha | 成人大片 (UC) examines how universities can prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow, highlight their distinctive strengths, and respond to global challenges while embracing new technologies.
More than 170 higher education and business leaders from across Australia and New 成人大片came together in Christchurch this morning for the opening of a two-day programme at the Christchurch Town Hall, before moving to UC鈥檚 Ilam Campus where international experts and UC senior leaders are contributing through panel participation, session moderation, and plenary discussions.
Professor De la Rey welcomed the event to Aotearoa New 成人大片and 艑tautahi Christchurch for the first time.聽 聽
鈥淏ringing higher education and business leaders together is a chance to shape how we prepare graduates for the jobs of tomorrow and make the most of technologies like AI in learning,鈥 Vice-Chancellor Professor Cheryl de la Rey said.
聽鈥淭his event is an opportunity to reflect on our strengths, learn from one another, and consider how we navigate common challenges with resilience, relevance and responsiveness as we exchange ideas on shaping the future.鈥
Professor De la Rey said she was also delighted to welcome Hon Dr Shane Reti, Minister for Universities, saying his presence highlights the national importance of these discussions for higher education.
Minister Reti chose the conference to announce the Government鈥檚 next steps following advice from the University Advisory Group, launching reforms to ensure New Zealand鈥檚 universities give students the best possible opportunities.
She emphasised UC鈥檚 role as host, saying: 鈥淲e are pleased to partner with Times Higher Education to host this gathering in a city known for its innovation and vibrant education community.

Among those attending were senior higher education leaders from Australia and New Zealand, prominent business leaders, and local MP Dr Hamish Campbell.
The programme focuses on solutions to the latest challenges in higher education across Australia and New Zealand, including accessibility, flexible learning, inclusion, and Indigeneity. It is addressing how the sector can move forward amidst policy reform, and shifting expectations from learners, all while continuing to advocate for equitable access and inclusion for the communities it serves.
