Ariela acknowledges聽DevNet聽(Aotearoa New 成人大片International Development Studies Network) as a recipient of the New 成人大片Postgraduate Development Field Research Award (2023) for her data collection phase across Fiji, which included travelling to meet women groups of two of her three case studies in the provinces of Ba and Ra (Rise Beyond the Reef), and in the province of Nadroga Navosa (Bula Coffee).
Brief background: Ariela joined The Fiji Times newsroom in Suva (Fiji) after graduating high school, studying part time at the University of the South Pacific for her BA in Journalism and History Politics. Ariela has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pacific Studies (USP, Suva) and an MA in Gender Studies (Sussex, UK). Ariela has worked in the development sector as a multi-media and strategic communications practitioner, in multi-country and multi-sectoral programs.
